Saturday at ICY SIGNS (200 Livingston Street, Brooklyn), Stephen Powers and Todd James will be exhibiting 5400 sq. feet of paintings and signs from MOCA’s Art in The Streets show. Looks like a super event. If you can’t make it, check out this great talk with Powers from VICE, or read more about Powers’s newest public project, Love Letter to Brooklyn.

A show-stopping “I” by Pomme Chan for Illustrated Type, an exhibition at Gallery Nucleus of hand drawn letterforms and experimental typography created by over 30 artists. Unfortunately the show ended June 6, but you can take a look back at all the lovely work here.

Woah. Fresh-looking type from artist Ivan Crush. Love it all, especially those color palettes. (via It’s Nice That)

Nice article on some of North Brooklyn’s indie art publishers. Of note: Brainwaves is a curated showcase of artist books, ‘zines, and prints at Storefront Gallery in Bushwick. Also really excited to learn about Booklyn, an artist-run, nonprofit that promotes artist books as an art form and educational resource. Both organizations have exhibitions opening this Friday. A great opportunity to check them out if you haven’t had the chance to before. (Photo by Hrag Vartanian via Hyper Allergic)

I’m digging Evan Gruzis’s trippy type. Check out Site Unseen’s chat with the artist.

Mark your calendars for Glenn Ligon: AMERICA, opening March 10 at the Whitney Museum of Art. Prep with Jason Moran’s interview of Lingon for Inteview, or try Glenn Lingon: Some Changes.

Trey Speegle solo exhibition at the Benrimon Contemporary gallery opens tonight in New York. Through March 5. (Pictured: It’s Not About You, 2010).
